Certified Nursing Assistant Training

Free Certified Nursing Assistant Training for Low-Income African Refugee and Immigrant Women resident in Minnesota.

The Minnesota African Women Association (MAWA) is offering free CNA certification trainings for low-income African immigrant, refugee and Asylee women resident in the Metro Area.

There are 60 spots available as follows:

  • 10 spots for African Asylee women granted asylum within the past two years
  • 10 spots for African refugee women less than 2 years in Minnesota/USA
  • 20 spots for African immigrant women living in the St. Paul/ Ramsey County
  • 20 spots for African Refugees living in any part of the Metro area

 

The Training will take place at an approved CNA training school and all expenses including the CNA State Board exams registration will be paid for by MAWA.

Additional all-expense-paid-for certification trainings such as Trained Medication Aide – TMA and Mental Health First Aid are available for some of those who complete the CNA certification training. This training is made possible by State and private foundation funding.
MAWA will verify that the participant is

  • low income
  • through their last two paychecks
  •  Is eligible to work in the US
  • Is a Minnesota resident
  • Has the basic qualifications for CNA training, including basic English language skills as accepted by nursing assistant training programs

Participants will undergo an orientation and employment related workshop session with MAWA staff as part of the program.
