African Women’s Awareness program

The African Women’s Awareness Program, AWA, is a series of short workshops and seminars educating Pan African women and girls (and sometimes men as well) on becoming increasingly engaged in community issues (i.e., education, transit, recycling, voting, accessing resources, etc). Current foci include recycling and use of non-toxic household cleaners, the Bottineau Light Rail line, civic engagement and Minnesota Law. The program reaches over 500 women and girls in seminar settings and over 9,000 Africans through a variety of media including newspaper, radio, email groups and Facebook ads.
